United Way of Southwest Minnesota Awards Kindness Investment Program (KIP) Grant to Lynd Public School

United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) has awarded a $1,000 Kindness Investment Program (KIP) Grant to Lynd Public School. This funding will support the school’s efforts to upgrade existing water filling stations, improving overall water quality for students, staff, and visitors.

“We’re pleased to support Lynd Public School through this KIP Grant,” said Meg Louwagie, CEO of UWSWMN. “Providing students with access to clean, safe drinking water helps create a healthy school environment and we’re happy to help make that possible.”

KIP Grants are awarded year-round, dependent on available funding, to nonprofit organizations, public schools, and government units for small‑scale, community‑level projects not currently receiving funding through a Community Impact Grant. The UWSWMN Board reviews requests and may award up to $1,000 for projects that align with one or more of UWSWMN’s priority areas: Youth Opportunities, Healthy Communities, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency.

Projects must occur within the UWSWMN service area and benefit residents in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine, and portions of Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles, and Redwood counties. Complete guidelines are available at unitedwayswmn.org/kindness-investment-program-kip.

“KIP Grants are a great way for local groups to move small community projects forward,” said Tanya Moat, Community Impact and Internal Programs Coordinator. “These are projects where a small sum of money can make a big impact and we encourage eligible organizations to explore how a KIP Grant might support their work.”
