United Way of Southwest Minnesota Announces New Chief Executive Officer
MARSHALL, MN — The Board of Directors of the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tanya Moat as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 2026.
Moat steps into the executive role following a comprehensive leadership search conducted by the UWSWMN Executive Board after former CEO Meg Louwagie resigned on April 30, 2026. The search process, led by Board Chair Matt Suby, included application reviews, virtual interviews, and in-person interviews with final candidates.
“Throughout this process, Tanya’s passion, experience, and commitment to the community made her stand out and gave us confidence that she is the right person to lead the United Way of Southwest Minnesota into its next chapter,” said Suby. “We are thrilled to have her as our next CEO to build upon an already strong foundation and continue our mission to unite people and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities in southwest Minnesota.”
Previously serving as UWSWMN's Community Impact and Internal Programs Coordinator, Moat brings an intimate familiarity with the region and a deep commitment to its mission. As an SMSU graduate with lifelong familial ties to southwest Minnesota, she returned home after living and working in Minneapolis and Long Beach, CA, building a strong background in program management and communications. Her professional expertise, local roots, and proven ability to unite people around shared goals ensure a seamless transition as UWSWMN continues its vital community work.
“I am honored and excited to be chosen to lead the United Way of Southwest Minnesota,” said Moat. “I look forward to building and deepening relationships in the communities we serve, and working closely with our donors, volunteers, and community partners to continue making a lasting impact right here at home.”
