Luke vs. Terry Fundraiser

Luke vs. Terry promo shotIt’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a….Gruffalo?! Get ready to see a Gruffalo strolling through Marshall…who will it be? United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) is excited to announce the Luke vs. Terry fundraiser to raise money for the Stuff the Bus program.  The person that raises the least amount of funds will walk 2 miles on College Drive wearing the Gruffalo costume.  The Gruffalo character is based on a beloved classic children’s book by Julia Donaldson, which is also part of the Imagination Library book program.

Meet the contenders! Luke Tietz is a Business Banker at Bremer Bank and a member of the UWSWMN Board of Directors.   Terry Kriz is the Director of Information Services at Runnings and a member of the UWSWMN Board of Directors.

Donations to support Luke or Terry in their quest to wear the Gruffalo costume will begin on Monday, June 7th through 8 a.m. Monday, June 28th.  Donations can be made online or by stopping at the UWSWMN office located at 800 East Main St., Marshall.

Join us on Monday, June 28th to honk at the “winner” as he walks down College Drive that afternoon.  Route and time will be announced that day via social media.  Join Luke and Terry for drink and food specials at Fairway Restaurant at the Marshall Golf Club from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.   Door prizes will be drawn at 5:30!

Stuff the Bus is coordinated by UWSWMN and includes public, private and charter schools throughout our service area.  The purpose of this initiative is to provide K-12 students with the basic school supplies needed to learn and be successful, thereby allowing them (and their parents) to focus on their academic goals.  Visit our website to learn more about upcoming dates, drop-off locations and volunteer needs for Stuff the Bus, www.unitedwayswmn.org/STB.
