Happy Holidays,
This season reminds us of the power of community and compassion. Yet, with today’s economic challenges, more of our neighbors are struggling than ever before. Local programs are stretched to their limits trying to meet these growing needs.
I grew up in Lake Benton and have called Marshall home since 1997. I know firsthand the strength of this community—and I also know the challenges many families face. Whether your gift is large or small, every donation matters. Every dollar brings hope and help to someone who needs it.
When you give to United Way of Southwest Minnesota, your generosity touches thousands of lives—over 65,000 people in our service area. Your support fuels programs that provide food, education, health services, and safety for those who need it most.
Thanks to donors like you, we’ve accomplished incredible things together:
- $381,000 in Community Investment Grants (CIG)
- $26,089 for the Student Emergency Fund
- $12,000 in Disaster Relief payments
- $2,500 in Kindness Investment Program (KIP) grants
- 1,550 Wild About Kindergarten bags
- Over 108,000 backpacks and school supplies through our Stuff the Bus initiative
That’s more than $421,000 invested back into our community—and it’s all because of you.
Your support is the backbone of United Way of Southwest Minnesota. It ensures accountability, transparency, and impact. It gives hope where it’s needed most. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has donated or volunteered. You make this work possible.
It has been an honor to serve on the Board since 2019 and as Board Chair since 2023. Together, we’ve made a difference—and together, we can do even more.
Wishing you and your loved one’s peace and joy this holiday season.
Warm regards,
Al Castor
