Hope Harbor's Youth Development Program receives Community Impact Grant

Hope Harbor’s Youth Development through Wellness and Life Skills program has been granted $7,700 by the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) as a community impact grant. This funding will assist in providing life skills training which focuses on four objectives: fostering supportive relationships with others; creating a safe space to feel supported and valued; empowering youth to take on leadership roles; and building character and confidence.

UWSWMN makes a difference in the lives of local people in our service area by investing in programs focused on Youth Opportunity, Healthy Communities, Financial Security and Community Resilience. Our service area includes the communities we serve in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine, and portions of Minnesota's Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles, and Redwood counties.

The primary method through which UWSWMN invests donations into our communities is by awarding Community Impact Grants. Local volunteers play a crucial role in this process by reviewing funding requests and working together to make funding recommendations to our board of directors. During the funding cycle of 2025-26, programs dedicated to enhancing the lives of local people were awarded a total of $200,000.
