The Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota’s LSS Meals and Meals on Wheels program has been granted $10,000 by the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) as a community impact grant. This funding will assist in providing meals for low-income seniors who are unable to contribute financially. This initiative is in line with UWSWMN's Healthy Communities focus area.

UWSWMN makes a difference in the lives of local people in our service area by investing in programs focused on Youth Opportunity, Healthy Communities, Financial Security and Community Resilience. Our service area includes the communities we serve in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine, and portions of Minnesota's Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles, and Redwood counties.

The primary method through which UWSWMN invests donations into our communities is by awarding Community Impact Grants. Local volunteers play a crucial role in this process by reviewing funding requests and working together to make funding recommendations to our board of directors. During the funding cycle of 2025-26, programs dedicated to enhancing the lives of local people were awarded a total of $200,000.
