Dr. George Taylor arrived in Marshall, Minnesota, in August 2020 as an Assistant Profession at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) in August 2020, he currently serves as the Director of the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, teaching entrepreneurship.  Goerge also serves as the Executive Director for the Southwest Marketing Advisory Center, and he is a Sam Walton Fellow for a 501(c)(3) student-led association called Enactus (SMSU). 

 

He holds several degrees, including a Doctorate in Management (Organizational Leadership) and a Master of Business Administration (Information Systems Technology Management), and is currently pursuing a PhD in Education Leadership.  He is also certified as a Senior Professional Human Resources Professional (SPHR), a Senior Certified Partner in Human Resources (SHRM-SCP), and a lifetime Certified Professional Coach (CPC).  George's teaching interests include organizational development, leadership, and entrepreneurship.  He is an active researcher for the OK Center for Thriving Schools. 

George is a published author and a frequent keynote and invited speaker for research conferences and symposiums, primarily on leadership, innovation, and business startup.  He is the author of a popular book entitled Blessed Strategy.  Prior to teaching, Dr. Taylor served a distinguished enlisted-to-officer career in the U.S. Navy, receiving several personal awards and medals, including being recognized as one of the top shore sailors for the entire Navy. 

 

George was recently selected to be featured in the Top 100 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Magazine for 2004. 

 

George has an extensive history with United Way.  He served as a United Way Rep. in organizational units within the U.S. Navy and believes strongly in United Way and its positive impact on families. 

 

He loves to travel, work out, and spend time with his family and friends, especially his best friend, his wife, Phyillis.
