WoMen’s Rural Advocacy Program Receives Community Impact Grant

The WoMen’s Rural Advocacy Program, Inc. has been awarded a community impact grant from the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) for $27,500.  These funds will be used to subsidize current services provided to victims of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and exploitation in Lincoln, Lyon, Yellow Medicine, and western Redwood counties.  This work aligns with UWSWMN's safety & well-being priority area.

UWSWMN makes a difference in the lives of local people by investing in programs focused on the health, education, financial stability, hunger, and safety & well-being of people living in our service area.  Our service area includes the communities we serve in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine, and portions of Minnesota's Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles, and Redwood counties.

Community impact grants are the main way UWSWMN invests donations into our communities.  The community impact grant process involves local volunteers who help review funding requests and collaborate to make funding recommendations to our board of directors.  For the 2023-24 funding cycle, a total of $212,000 was awarded through this process to programs working to improve the lives of local people.
