As I submit the final board member blog for the 2020 campaign year, gratitude is the message I want to convey. I think we can all agree the past year has been more than difficult. Our service area certainly reflected challenges the entire country faced, and the United Way of Southwest Minnesota’s focus on hunger (food insecurity), health, education, financial stability, and safety & well-being has been even more essential than it normally is. Campaign funds raised are invested in initiatives, community partner programs and other partnerships serving more than 50,000 local people in thirty-five communities throughout southwest Minnesota.
Thank you to donors. There are so many worthwhile causes, but by choosing UWSWMN your donations stay local and provide assistance to your neighbors and communities.
Thank you to the staff and programs of our community partners. The work you do is always important, but this year you adapted services to meet increased need during unprecedented times.
Thank you to everyone associated with our schools. The special COVID-19 grant process underscored the needs and complexities schools face trying to provide a safe environment and some semblance of normalcy for the students.
Thank you to volunteers. Your time and energy is critical to achieving the UWSWMN’s mission.
