Southwest Minnesota Opportunity Council (SMOC) Awarded Small Grant

The United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) Board of Directors recently approved several Small Grants in Round I totaling $6,158. The Small Grant Program is an outreach of the Community Impact funding process. The available amount of grant dollars each year is subject to change. One-time grants, up to $5,000, are awarded to organizations aligned with UWSWMN’s priority areas. The Round II deadline is January 31 with $31,367.00 remaining in the Small Grant fund.

Health: Prenatal Vitamins & Folic Acid Education Initiative of SMOC Family Planning

This Small Grant will help fund prenatal vitamins and folic acid educational materials for women. Small Grant funds will help future babies and their parents achieve a healthier start to life through access to prenatal vitamins and folic acid education. Grant Award: $1,500.00

The other grant recipient in Round I is the Personal Health Care Initiative of Neighbors United Food Shelf in Granite Falls.

UWSWMN will hold a Small Grant specific workshop and demo of the online grant platform on Monday, November 19th from 10 – 11:15 a.m.  If you are considering applying for a UWSWMN Small Grant, it is strongly recommended that you attend a workshop. This workshop is free and will be held at the United Way office located at 800 East Main Street, Marshall.  RSVP’s are required for planning purposes by emailing unitedway@unitedwayswmn.org or by calling 507-929-2273 by November 16.
