Amy Herrick Named Volunteer of the Year

Amy Herrick of Wood Lake was named the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) Volunteer of the Year.  This award is presented to an individual that demonstrates support, leadership, volunteerism and enthusiasm for the United Way each year. This special award is based on nominations from United Way colleagues. Volunteer of the Year is awarded to an individual who has been a dedicated, long-term United Way volunteer committed to helping organization achieve its mission.

Amy is a strong and positive voice for the United Way of Southwest Minnesota. She demonstrates engaged volunteerism and is always one of the first people to “raise her hand” when there is a need.  Amy is the manager of the Personal Lines Department at North Star Mutual Insurance Company in Cottonwood.  Amy definitely gives her time, talent, and financial resources for the good of our mission; her passion for the organization is evident in her willingness and drive to help and support United Way. She both shares what she knows and is always willing to learn. Her positive personality is contagious, and she is one of those people that has “a light inside.”

Amy has volunteered in countless ways over the years, including: Read for the Record, Stuff the Bus, United We Dine Events, Beer Dunk Tank, Business Blitz Campaign Fundraiser and Grant Review Panelist.

Amy has been a member of the United Way board of directors since July 2015 and served as the Campaign Chair in 2017-18, currently serves as Vice Chair, and will serve as the Board Chair in 2019-20.  

UWSWMN held its annual progress report to the community on Tuesday, March 26th from 4:00-5:00pm at the Marshall Golf Club.  The event recognized SW MN volunteers, investors and community partners and highlighted United Way’s 2018 accomplishments and 2018-19 awards of distinction were presented.
