United Way of Southwest Minnesota Awarded Great River Energy Grant

Great River Energy recently donated $1500 to United Way of Southwest Minnesota. The donation will go toward the 2018 Stuff the Bus initiative. Funds will be used to purchase needed school supplies, hygiene items and back packs based on the need reported by each respective school in the United Way of Southwest Minnesota service area. In 2017, approximately 4,000 students from 26 areas schools in grades K-12 benefited from the effort. More than 62,181 supplies were distributed.
”We want every child in our service area to be ready and prepared to start school successfully. In order to do this and achieve their goals, they must have the basic supplies necessary to facilitate learning,” said Marcy Heemeyer, President & CEO, United Way of Southwest Minnesota.

Stuff the Bus will assist students in the following school districts in SW MN: Canby, Clarkfield, Dawson/Boyd, Echo, Fulda, Hendricks, Ivanhoe, Lake Benton, Lakeview, Lynd, Marshall, Milroy, Minneota, Murray County Central, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, Tracy Area, Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Yellow Medicine East (public, private and charter).
