Prairie Five Meals Receives Community Impact Grant.

Prairie Five Community Action Council, Inc.'s Prairie Five Meals program has received a Community Impact Grant of $8,000 from the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN). The grant will help cover the expenses of providing healthy meals to the elderly population, promoting better nutrition, and independent living while reducing social isolation. The Prairie Five Meals program serves Yellow Medicine and Lac Qui Parle Counties and aligns with UWSWMN's hunger priority area.

UWSWMN makes a difference in the lives of local people by investing in programs focused on the health, education, financial stability, hunger, and safety & well-being of people living in our service area.  Our service area includes the communities we serve in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine, and portions of Minnesota's Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles, and Redwood counties.

Community impact grants are the primary way UWSWMN invests donations into our communities.  The community impact grant process involves local volunteers who help review funding requests and collaborate to make funding recommendations to our board of directors.  For the 2023-24 funding cycle, a total of $212,000 has been awarded to programs working to improve the lives of local people.
