Ending the Year with Good Cheer

A quote jumped out at me recently by Maya Angelou, “When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.”  This quote has personal meaning for me.  Giving was instilled in me by my parents and it’s become an important part of my life as an adult.  I give to United Way of Southwest Minnesota, my church and other programs in my community.  As CEO, I have the opportunity to accept generous donations from people that support what we do.  I can say for certain that this quote is spot on.

As 2021 comes to a close, consider making a contribution to a local organization that is meaningful to you.  It might be a local meals on wheels program, after school kids program, books for local children, hospice care, college scholarships or mental health programs.  The list can go on and on. Think about what is near and dear to your heart.

We recorded short videos featuring six of our donors sharing why they give to UWSWMN.  Check them out on our Facebook page weekly through the end of the month.   If you choose to support the work of United Way of Southwest Minnesota, donations can be made securely online at www.unitedwayswmn.org/donate OR by mail to: PO Box 41, Marshall, MN 56258.

During this season of giving, we are so grateful for the support of so many generous donors that find meaning in our mission. Because of our donors, local lives are being changed every day.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
