• To capture the voice of the communities by actively involving residents in dialogues about
their personal goals for a good quality of life, what in the communities helps them achieve
this quality of life and what obstacles get in their way.

• To provide information that results from these dialogues to a full range of organizations, leaders and citizens capable of affecting change where necessary including government officials, educational entities, nonprofit agencies.

• To establish community dialogue as a recognized, effective and empowering means to seek participation in issues of importance.

• To stimulate and encourage people to take positive action on community goals important
to them.

• To shape future United Way of Southwest Minnesota community impact, communication
and organizational strategies in light of what we hear and learn from these conversations.
