2010 Power of the PursePower_of_the_Purse_-_Rochester_compressed.jpg

Sponsored by Women United for Early Childhood

The 3rd annual Power of the Purse was held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010.  It was a great evening of stylish purses (click here to see photos of all items sold at auction), great food and fellowship - all in support of early literacy.

Our speaker was Robin Asbell.  She is the author of two cookbooks and is a culinary instructor.  She is an advocate for whole grains, whole foods and eating well.  On Thursday, May 6, there was an extra opportunity to learn more about Chef Robin's work, her recipes and to watch her prepare two recipes while attendees at the demonstration enjoyed lunch prepared by SMSU Culinary Arts students using recipes from her cookbooks.

Proceeds from the event supported the work of Women United for Early Childhood, which works to make a difference by helping to equip families and caregivers with the tools needed so all the children in our area can be prepared to succeed when they start school.
