Kathy, Parent

I want to say thank you for the books she was getting. I was in a car accident a few years ago & lost my income as a result. I no longer work and having books come to her when we can't afford them anymore is a great blessing. Books are essential in our house so I really hope you understand that I mean it when I say Thank you & that it is something we look forward to every month. Thanks again.

Your effort to bring stories, pictures, poetry and culture to little ones has made my family and my daycare a million times better!  Thank you so much for your incredible gift!  We love it!

Larry & Dawn, United Way Supporters, Marshall

Larry and Dawn make sure that local children can be enrolled in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a literacy program sponsored in this area by United Way of Southwest Minnesota.  Larry & Dawn decided to support this program because it combines their love for children and reading.  They are concerned about the effects on children's lives when they are not prepared for Kindergarten and can fall behind early on.  "We love to see kids developing a passion for books and reading.  Reading is fundamental."

Larry and Dawn also appreciate that the program encourages parent and child interaction and that the quality books promote good messages.  "We love our community, and we think a donation to support Imagination Library is an investment in future generations and the quality of life in our area."  Giving to United Way of Southwest Minnesota has shown them how their donation makes a positive impact on the local community.

Tricia, Marshall, Parent and Donor to United Way of Southwest Minnesota

As a parent of small children, I appreciate the Imagination Library program sponsored by United Way of Southwest Minnesota.  It has been fun for my children to receive something special, just for them, in the mail each month.  We make time in the evenings for bedtime stories, which is a routine we have grown to look forward to!  My children love reading and being read to, and I believe our participation in the Imagination Library program has played a role in fostering that love.

We love the Imagination Library!

I have been meaning to send you a note about our family's experience with the Imagination Library.  As you know, both my children have participated since birth.  Halle turned 5 in June and is thriving as a kindergartener who loves books.  She was well prepared for school, I believe due in part to the program.  Melanie & I marveled at the age appropriate and high quality books.  It seemed as though the books often set the stage for real life, whether the subject was learning to share, not to bite or even introducing potty training.  The educational aspects of the books are fantastic, but I truly value even more the designated time that our family has cherished while reading.  That's time you don't get back.  Eli turns 4 in a month, so I am glad that we still will enjoy the monthly enthusiasm at the mail box for another year.  Melanie and I will continue to sponsor the Imagination Library as we know first hand this program makes a difference in any young child's development.  We as the parents think it is fun too!
