15 Years…$5.9 Million Local Investment

United Way fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community. In southwest Minnesota, we focus on health, education, financial stability, hunger and safety & well-being. More than 50,000 local people will be served in 2017-18 through United Way of Southwest Minnesota initiatives, community partner programs and partnerships.  Our mission is to unite people and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities in Southwest Minnesota.

Over the last 15 years, United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) has re-invested more than $5.9 million locally to benefit the lives of our friends and neighbors. For more information on the work of the United Way of Southwest Minnesota, our community partners, internal UWSWMN programming, and/or volunteer opportunities please visit www.UnitedWaySWMN.org.

Our 2017 campaign officially kicks off next month with a series of meetings/trainings. This effort will be chaired by Amy Herrick of Wood Lake. Herrick is the Assistant Manager, Personal Lines Underwriting for North Star Mutual Insurance Company in Cottonwood, MN.

Dollars raised will be re-invested in local programs and people. Your dollar goes further with UWSWMN because we’re not doing our work alone. Community Investment volunteers from throughout our service area review all grant requests and make funding recommendations to our local Board of Directors to be certain that your contribution makes the largest impact. Contributions to your local United Way improve lives right here where you live. Your donation will go far…but not far away.

The United Way of Southwest Minnesota has been certified in accountability and awarded the Charities Review Council Meets Standards seal which is a marker of nonprofit strength and accountability for those seeking a place to make charitable contributions. All twenty-five of the Council’s Standards have been met by UWSWMN showing performance in four critical areas: Public Disclosure, Governance, Financial Activity and Fundraising Practices.  We encourage donors to view our profile at smartgivers.org for additional information.

United Way of Southwest Minnesota is an autonomous, local organization working to create lasting change in people’s lives and the communities we serve in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine and portions of Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles and Redwood counties of Minnesota.
